Nubia launched its latest e-sports flagship gaming smartphone earlier this month. And the Red Magic 8S Pro is going global today. It is similar to its non-S sibling, Red Magic 8 Pro, but has few upgrades. Let's take a look at the Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro and 8S Pro+ design, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.
Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro Series Overview:
Design
The Red Magic 8S Pro phones feature a sleek, modern design with flat sides. The devices sport a large 6.8" 120Hz AMOLED display which its predecessor already had, making gaming and multimedia consumption a delight. The screen covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, has a touch sampling rate of 960Hz, and can hit 1300 nits of peak brightness. The shoulder triggers have an even faster touch sampling rate of 520Hz. Additionally, the inclusion of an under-display selfie camera ensures an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Performance
One of the main highlights of the Red Magic 8S Pro Series is its powerful hardware configuration. The siblings are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC, which includes the powerful Cortex-X3 CPU clocked at 3.36GHz, ensuring optimal performance. This is the same chip as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy but without the Galaxy branding.Complementing that, there's an independent "Red Core R2" gaming chip. This is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage for the vanilla 8S Pro and 24GB RAM and 1TB storage for the Plus variant. Hence, users can expect enhanced performance and faster processing speeds.
The Red Magic 8S Pro phones sport a dedicated Game Mode toggle, allowing users to switch between different gaming modes and settings. The devices also include two touch-sensitive shoulder buttons, customizable for specific in-game actions, providing more control and convenience to gamers. To address the issue of overheating during long gaming sessions, the Red Magic 8S Pros come with an improved ICE 12 cooling system with the same 20,000 RPM cooling fan, improved airflow, and thermal paste. Nubia has added RGB lighting to the entire 8S Pro series.
Camera
In terms of camera capabilities, the Red Magic 8S Pro devices feature a vertical triple camera setup without a fancy island. The primary shooter is a 50MP lens, while the other two are 8MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro cameras respectively. A single LED flash is located above the lenses. They have an under-display 16MP camera as a selfie shooter. While the focus of these devices lies primarily in gaming, the camera system still offers decent photography and videography capabilities.
Rest of the Specs
The handsets have massive batteries, with the standard 8S Pro packing a 6000mAh cell(s) while its Plus brother gets a slightly smaller 5000mAh battery. The 8S Pro+ supports 165W wired charging, while the vanilla variant allows for 80W fast charging. Red Magic 8S Pro can juice to 100% in 35 minutes, while the 8S Pro+ gets fully charged in a record time of 14 minutes.Additionally, the smartphones include a USB-C port at the bottom, RGB light for the fan, and retain the 3.5mm audio jack on the top, catering to the preferences of users who rely on wired audio accessories.
