Motorola is no new name in the foldable phone market. The brand unveiled the 2023 flip iterations: the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra a few months ago and it's launching soon in Nepal too. And in this article, we'll be going through all the details, specs, and expected prices of the Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra in Nepal.
Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra Overview:
Design
Going by the design, both the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra bear the same form factor. Like all the other clamshell foldables, the back of this phone is also divided into two portions. The lower half is made of matte velvet AG (anti-glare) glass and has both the Motorola and Razr logos.

The siblings use a 7000-series aluminum for the frame. Motorola says it has managed to reduce the hinge components to 85 parts here, which allows these phones to be used in tent mode as well as in multiple angles. You get Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the Ultra model, while the vanilla Razr 40 has a plastic back. Similarly, both these phones are IP52 rated against dust and water drips.
Display
Cover display
The biggest highlight, however, is definitely the larger cover display on the Razr 40 Ultra. Compared to the 7.7-inch cover screen on the Razr 2022, this guy has an almost edge-to-edge 3.6-inch AMOLED display with a 1066 x 1056 pixel resolution.

So, this 10-bit panel also dethrones OPPO's Find N2 Flip which previously held the top spot for the biggest cover display on a clamshell foldable that measures 3.26 inches. Furthermore, it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and bears a 144Hz fast refresh rate.Meanwhile, the vanilla Razr 40 features a tiny 1.5-inch outer display with 194 x 368 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Main display
Coming to the main display, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra sports a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate. This FHD+ panel has HDR10+ support and 1400 nits peak brightness too. Here, Motorola has also used Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) with 5 layers of protection, while maintaining no gap when closed thanks to the teardrop hinge mechanism. On the other hand, the regular Razr 40 has a 6.9-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. And it has HDR10+ and 1400 nits of peak brightness too.
Performance
Under the hood, Razr 40 Ultra is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor; instead of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This chip is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Likewise, the vanilla model packs a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Both clamshells boot on Android 13-based My UX out-of-the-box, while Motorola has also promised 3 OS updates for these phones.
Cameras
Moving to the cameras, you get a dual camera setup on both Razr siblings. The Ultra model houses a 12MP primary shooter with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide unit that can also take macro shots. Here, the cameras and LED flash come protruding from the cover display. On the other hand, the Razr 40 features a 64MP main camera (OIS) alongside a 13MP ultrawide sensor. Up front, both models sport a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calls.[caption id="attachment_153196" align="alignnone" width="900"] Razr 40 Ultra[/caption]
