Meta has launched its new flagship VR headset, the Quest Pro, which it’s been teasing for the past year. It is the first device in Quest VR's high-end line and comes with a slew of new and innovative features. So, here's everything you need to know about the Meta Quest Pro, including its expected price in Nepal.
Meta Quest Pro Overview:
Design
To begin with, the Quest Pro has a completely new design that focuses on user comfort. Unlike the previous Quest, which put weight on your face because all of the hardware is in front, the Quest Pro's battery rests on the back of your head, distributing the weight more evenly.Nonetheless, Meta has increased the overall weight by nearly half, from 500g on the Quest 2 to 720 grams on the Quest Pro. It sits on the head with a padded plastic ring rather than a cloth strap.
Display
The Quest 2's Fresnel lenses have been replaced by a new, thinner stack of optical lenses in the Quest Pro. According to Meta, the thin pancake optics reduce the depth of the optical module by 40% while providing clear and sharp visuals. The two LCD displays for each eye have 1800 x 1920 pixels and use local dimming and quantum dot technology to provide richer and more vivid colors. In theory, the Quest Pro should have 25% better center sharpness than the Quest 2. In addition, Meta's new headset has a wider field of view (FoV) than the Quest 2 at 106°.
Quest Pro comes equipped with cameras inside and around the front of device front to capture aspects of facial movement. These facial gestures will then be replicated simultaneously in the virtual world. These camera sensors will also assist you in adjusting the VR headset for a better fit.Another new feature in the Quest Pro is the Full-color Passthrough Video. It lets the outward-facing camera on the headset capture images of the outside world and renders them into the headset. That is, you will be able to realistically blend your physical and virtual environments. For example, you can place a virtual vase on a table in the physical world.
Self-tracking controllers
Along with new features, Meta has upgraded the controller for the headset, which is called the Quest Touch Pro controller. It eliminates the tracking ring that has been present on all touch controllers to date. Instead, each controller has three built-in camera sensors that track their position in 3D space independently of the headset. That is, unlike previous controllers, they no longer require a direct line of sight to function and can be controlled in a full 360-degree range of motion. They also have improved haptics with the new TruTouch Haptics system to provide a precise range of feedback. The controllers are rechargeable too.
Performance
The Quest Pro is powered by Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon XR2 Plus processor, which Meta claims delivers 50% more power than the Quest 2's XR2. It has 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage; and unlike the Quest 2, there is no option for lower storage variants. The Touch Pro controllers, on the other hand, are powered by the Snapdragon 662 mobile processor.

Meta Quest Pro Price in Nepal and Availability
The Quest Pro is launched at an asking price of USD 1,499 with the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers. That's three times the price of the Quest 2 with 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, the Quest Touch Pro controllers, which are compatible with the Quest 2, will also be available separately for USD 300. The Quest Pro will be available on October 25th.
