Popular laptop manufacturers such as Lenovo, Asus, and HP, all have given us their take on foldable laptops. Now, the South Korean tech giant, LG Electronics, is also taking their shot at this emerging segment. They are coming with LG Gram Fold in the first week of October this year. We will discuss this device, its price in Nepal, specifications, availability, and further in this article.
LG Gram Fold Overview
Design and Display
Design-wise, the LG Gram Fold is identical to other similar offerings with the screen covering most of it. The company has not specified the build material but my guess is, that it uses a metal, probably aluminium. The device comes in a matte black colour with “gram” prominently written on the out. It measures 378 x 280 x 9.40 mm when fully unfolded, whereas it measures 192 x 280 x 19.20 mm without a keyboard, in fold mode. The thing weighs 1.53 kgs altogether, and 1.25 kgs independently. The display is a 17” foldable OLED with a touchscreen. It boasts a QXGA+ (2,560 x 1,920) resolution, 500 nits of maximum brightness as well as a 99.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut. However, it only offers a static 60Hz refresh rate. When folded LG Gram Fold turns into a 12.3” laptop with 1,920 x 1,280 resolution. We can use it in multiple modes such as fold mode (dual-screen laptop), laptop mode, tablet mode, large screen mode (desktop), and book mode.
Performance
In terms of performance, it relies on the Intel Core i5-1335U processor with 10 (2P + 8E) cores, 12 threads, and a 12 MB L3 cache. Furthermore, the P cores can reach a maximum clock speed of 1.3 GHz. Whereas the P cores can hit 4.6 GHz. In terms of GPU, the LG Gram Fold gets an integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics. Moreover, it also gets 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM coupled with 512 GB M.2 NVme SSD storage. While it may be true, the expandability of the memory and storage is not known as of now. LG Gram Fold comes together with the Windows 11 Home (64-bit) operating system.
The LG Gram Fold is powered by a 72Wh lithium-ion battery that can be charged with a 65W AC charger. It has three USB Type-C ports, two of which are USB 4.0 Gen 3 (one with Power Delivery and Thunderbolt 4 support). One of the ports is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 with power delivery support. It has WiFi 6 AX211 and Bluetooth v5.1 for further connectivity.
