After unveiling the iPhone 15 series alongside Watch Ultra 2 and Watch Series 9 about a month ago, Apple is all set for another one. While the last event focused on the announcement of new iPhones and Apple Watches, this one will be more computer-centric. This Apple Event is titled “Scary Fast.”, and we will discuss what we know about it so far!
Apple “Scary Fast” Event Overview:
As mentioned earlier, this Apple event will be computer-centric, such that, it will focus on a new set of chips alongside an upgrade for the iMac. Thanks to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, we have some initial information on the highlights of the event.
New Mac M3 Chips
Apple will be announcing a set of three new chips, namely M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. All these chips will apparently be based on 3nm fabrication technology. This is quite a feat from Apple, considering these chips have been quite hard to obtain. Nonetheless, we expect this new line of chips to bring a significant performance boost over their predecessors. We have some insight into the architecture of these new chips as well. The regular M3 chip is said to feature eight CPU cores altogether alongside 10 graphics cores. Similarly, the M3 Pro might arrive in various configurations starting with 12 CPU cores and 18 graphics cores. The higher-end variant of the same might boast 14 CPU cores and 20 graphics cores. Lastly, Apple has supposedly tested the M3 Max chip with 16 + 40 CPU and graphics cores respectively. A watered-down version of the Max chip may feature 'only' 32 graphics cores.
iMac is Apple's all-in-one desktop computer that debuted back in 1998. The iMac received its latest upgrade over 2 years ago with the M1 chipset. It's about time to give this device an upgrade it deserves! And since this year marks the silver jubilee for the product, what better occasion to do so? All in all, we expect an announcement relating to an upgrade in the upcoming Apple Event.
